Overview
Autism Breakthrough!
Recently the Journal of American Physicians and
Surgeons (Spring,
2006) reported a sudden drop in the number of Autistic children that corresponds with the reduced
Thimerosal content in vaccines! This study again established a link between
Autism and mercury toxicity(3). It can also explain why the removal of mercury from the body can have the potential to turn around Autism (see the Protocol and the Testimonies).
Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) are complex and often difficult to understand
for families and professionals alike. There are numerous theories on the cause
of autism including genetics, environmental exposures, and vaccines that contain
the mercury-based preservative thimerosal.
- Maruice Hilleman, M.D.,
was one of the leaders of Merck's vaccination program. In a 1991 memo he warned
company executives that when the standard schedule of vaccines was given to
a 6-month-old child, mercury exposure would be more than 85 times the safety
standards set by the government. He suggested that thimerosal use be stopped.
His suggestion was disregarded. Government officials later added seven more
vaccines containing thimerosal to the vaccine schedule.
- In June 2000, a secret
meeting to evaluate thimerosal research was organized by the CDC and included
representatives from the FDA and several drug companies. At that meeting,
Bill Weil, M.D., described the results of the studies as "statistically
significant."
- One of the participants
of that meeting, Richard Johnston, M.D., said that he didn't want his newborn
grandson to receive vaccines with thimerosal "until we know better what
is going on."
- Jill James, M.D. is an
FDA scientist who recently conducted a study that found many autistic children
lack the ability to produce glutathione, an antioxidant that helps the body
remove mercury.
Mandatory
vaccine programs.
According to the GAO (1999) in the 1990’s an estimated 12 million vaccinations
were given each year and more than 40 million children were vaccinated. Since
the 1930” the mercury-based Thimerosal has been added to vaccines as a
preservative, allowing vaccines to be manufactured in bulk instead of individual
doses. In 1980’s FDA bans thimerosal in OTC products (Merthiolate) and
in 1991 considered banning in vaccines but didn’t.
CDC then increases the number of vaccines to children and no one took the time
to calculate the cumulative mercury dose in these children through the 1990’s.
In fact, it was 187 times the EPA’s limit for daily exposure to mercury
and the rate of Autism explodes. Iowa had an increase of 700% in autistics throughout
the 1990’s and in 2004 became the first state to ban mercury in vaccines
followed California.
According to the American Academy
of Pediatrics, the autism rate among U.S. children in 1995 was 1 in 2,500.
Ten years later the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) puts the
rate at 1 in 166. In the early '90s public health officials significantly increased
the number of vaccines containing thimerosal.

In round
terms, for every two children registered through IDEA with autism in 1992-93,
there were almost eleven by 1999-2000.
There are
similarly unexplained large increases in the last 15 years in a number of other
childhood disorders involving immune system dysfunction such as ADHD, asthma
allergies, and juvenile diabetes. These, like autism, have increased
dramatically since the 1980s while the number of vaccine doses given before age
two has increased from 8 to 22.
In recent years the thimerosal content of children's vaccines has been reduced,
but the preservative is still used in flu vaccines, tetanus boosters and some
over-the-counter drugs.
On July 7, 1999, a joint recommendation was made by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the U.S.
Public Health Service (PHS) to remove thimerosal from vaccines. A two-phase
study was undertaken to evaluate trends in diagnosis of new Neurodevelopmental
Disorders (NDs) entered into the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS)
and the California Department of Developmental Services (CDDS) databases on
a reporting quarter basis, from 1994 through 2005.
Significant increasing trends in newly diagnosed NDs were observed in both databases
1994 through mid-2002. Significant decreasing trends in newly diagnosed NDs
were observed in both databases from mid-2002 through 2005. The results indicate
that the trends in newly diagnosed NDs correspond directly to the expansion
and subsequent contraction of the cumulative mercury dose to which children
were exposed from TCVs through the U.S.
immunization schedule.
There are many diverse treatments available in biomedical, educational, therapeutic,
and dietary fields. A successful approach for Autistic kids was developed by
Maxam Nutraceuticals (www.maxamlabs.com). Their protocol is based on the removal
of mercury (Hg) and the regeneration of the nervous system. The success they
achieve with Autistic children further reinforces the validity of the Autism
– mercury link.
Their protocol was modified based on the practitioners’ feed-back
we received. It’s presented for educational purposes only. Always consult
with your doctor if you’re sick.
